Flex 2002 News:
Flex 2002 News: Significant Changes to Merck's Prescription Drug
Program: What These Changes Mean to You
If you are covered or
are planning to elect coverage under the 90/10, 80/20, POS, PPO or HMO medical
options, you will be affected by the many changes to Merck’s Prescription
Drug program that will begin in 2002. Therefore, keep in mind:
- There are new
copayments for generic and brand drugs. If you are on a maintenance
medication—that is, if there’s a prescription drug you take every day—there
may be a real financial incentive for you to explore Merck-Medco’s home
delivery and online prescription programs.
- Certain medications
will be actively managed by Merck-Medco—including sleep aids, hypnotics,
certain pain relievers and male erectile dysfunction drugs (including
Viagra). If you are currently taking one or more of these medications,
you may want to contact Merck-Medco for more information about how you’ll
be affected.
- A new Positive
Approaches Program will be available, geared toward those individuals
who are being treated for—or who are at risk for—depression. If it’s
appropriate for you to participate in this program, Merck-Medco will
contact you directly with more information. Keep in mind that participation
in this program is voluntary and you can choose to opt out at any time.
- For more information
about any of these changes or programs, visit Merck-Medco online at
http://www.merckmedco.com or
by phone at 800-RX-MERCK.
